As part of a study on stakeholder leadership groups, CapacityPlus staff members Erik Reavely, from lead partner IntraHealth International, and George Mgomella, from associate partner African Population & Health Research Center, recently interviewed members of the Health Workforce Observatory in Kenya and the Health Workforce Advisory Board in Uganda.
CapacityPlus builds on the human resources information systems (HRIS) strengthening work initiated by the Capacity Project. One new initiative is providing support to regional organizations as they adapt and implement the iHRIS software. Read more »
CapacityPlus's Wanda Jaskiewicz participated in a May 4-6 meeting in El Salvador, “Human Resources for Health Plans and Primary Health Care: The Challenges of Inter-Sectoral and Social Coordination.” The gathering was organized by the Pan American Health Organization and the Global Health Workforce Alliance in collaboration with the ministries of health of El Salvador and Brazil. The Tanzania Human Resource Capacity Project—a Capacity Project Associate Award—is supporting parasocial workers, a new cadre of community social worker serving the country’s most vulnerable children. To bolster this support, CapacityPlus is examining ways to use mobile phone technology as a tool for supportive supervision. Read more »
It’s been more than two years since the first-ever Global Forum on Human Resources for Health (HRH) in Kampala, Uganda. The global community continues to increase its awareness of the HRH crisis and actions to strengthen the health workforce. Many countries have made progress, but there is still a global shortage of over four million health workers. Read more »
